Human intelligence remains one of the most powerful tools available to law enforcement.
Some of the best intelligence opportunities begin during everyday police encounters.
A person who appears relatively insignificant may have direct access to people, places, relationships, criminal activity, and information investigators would otherwise never obtain.
This one-day course teaches officers and investigators how to recognize people with intelligence value, elicit useful information, recruit and develop confidential informants, assess reliability, and turn human sources into actionable investigative intelligence.
The course emphasizes using human intelligence to produce better information, improve officer safety, protect informants, and create investigative opportunities.

Instructor:
Matthew Hedger is a former U.S. intelligence officer with 17 years of service at the CIA and NSA and a subject-matter expert in covert finance, anti-money laundering, and transnational organized crime.Â
While spending more than a decade operating undercover inside transnational criminal networks, Matthew led sensitive operations across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe targeting narcotics, weapons, and money laundering operations.
His operational experience includes Mexican drug trafficking organizations, international money laundering networks, and achieving full-patch membership in a 1%er outlaw motorcycle club while operating undercover.
Today, Matthew advises law enforcement, government agencies, and global financial institutions on money laundering, organized crime, undercover operations, and emerging financial threats.
